The goal of psychological testing is to provide the patient, clinician, and treatment team with a better understanding of the patient’s cognitive abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and behavior’s. Results of psychological testing can help to ensure proper diagnosis and improve treatment planning, treatment outcomes, and overall patient success.
Psychological assessments can assist the providers with determining an appropriate diagnosis, assessing current cognitive functioning as well as changes in functioning, evaluating Social/interpersonal/emotional concerns, and investigating a lack of progress in mental health treatment. Testing can assist with determining an appropriate level of care treatment needs. Testing may also be conducted as recommended by prior providers or as ordered/requested by the courts.
Types of Assessments include;
Adults who are engaged in treatment, are medication compliant, and who abstain from mood altering substances as well as those who are recommended for specific assessments by a professional are appropriate for psychological testing.
Medical or psychiatric providers, case manager, and guardians/self (GMH/private pay).
